As college students, we all miss the days where a typical school day consisted of naps, learning 2+2, and best of all, arts and crafts. The beauty of arts and crafts is that they allow you to express yourself and create something that is unique and owned solely by you. We then got to relish in the praise of our parents and teachers for doing such a great job. The problem is that all that is seemingly lost, and now all we do is read chapters and write essays. But, it is not at all gone and forgotten. Our arts and crafts have turned into hard work and passion. That paper you spent all night writing gets its praise with an A, and that chapter you read shows its worth through the grade you got on your final. We are still presented with many creative opportunities in life now as we were before, even though it may not be in the form of construction paper and glue. Personally, I had to get very creative in my Senior year of High School. I was the Drill Commander for my school’s Air Force JROTC program. With that title came structuring practices, managing over 50 people and thousands of dollars worth of equipment, and securing wins at competitions. Letting my brain take the backseat for this job was no option, and I was able to get creative and ended up winning over 30 awards, one of the best seasons our team has ever had. This is just one example of how creativity can only help you become better. Researchers have shown that some of the most well known people in history were extremely well versed in the world of creativity. Einstein’s Theory of Relativity happened because of Einstein’s genius brain and ingenuity. Helen Keller was a very well- versed academic even though she could not even see or hear. If you just take a little bit of time and think of other options and get creative with whatever situation you may be in, life not only becomes much more successful, but also a bit more colorful.
