What is Creativity?

     When someone thinks of something creative, they usually think of some world-renowned invention. But rarely does anyone think of something so simple as a song, poem, or skit. Creativity, itself, is shown in a wide variety of ways. Everyday creativity is used so much that one may do a creative act without even noticing it. Creativity is defined as the use of the imagination or original ideas, this meaning that it can be anything that you come up with that is initially your idea. While some may think that creativity can only be something that is tangible, creativity can also be a concept or innovation. While in high school, I had to use creativity almost every day while being in the certified nursing assistant program. While taking the course, we visited various hospitals, nursing facilities, and fire rescues. Each facility has their own supplies that they used to do the different tasks. I noticed that they all did not have the same supplies or the supplies that they had was not as easily accessible as the other facilities. I would be very uncomfortable at a certain facility due to the fact that I did not have all the supplies that I deemed necessary. I then came up with a creative plan that insured that I had everything that I needed for the different tasks. For example, I would look at my tasks for the day and make a cart that had all the things that I needed throughout the day to complete the tasks. When the facility was low on an item I would have to improvise a way to get the job done without it. For instance, say the facility was low on shampoo, I would use the multi-purpose cleanser that they had to clean the resident's hair. This goes to show that creativity doesn’t have to be something great and big, it can be something as small as coming up with a new method to complete duty.
